Qualifications for Membership

  • Regular Members:
    Any firm or corporation regularly engaged within the continental limits of the United States in the processing (crushing) of soybeans, canola, sunflower seed, flaxseed and safflower seed for meal and oil using a solvent extraction process may become a regular member of NOPA upon the approval of the Board of Directors.
  • Annual Investment: The annual investment for Regular Members are determined by the Board of Directors from year to year and  based on a member’s crush volume per month for soybeans and per quarter for softseeds. 

 

  • Provisional Members: An oilseed processing company that intends to become engaged within the continental limits of the U.S. in the actual processing of oilseeds for meal and oil using a solvent extraction process, but whose crushing facilities have not yet become operational may apply.
    • Must provide evidence of a public announcement indicating its intentions to construct a solvent extraction soybean processing facility within the U.S.
    • Have received approved environmental air permits for proposed processing facility, and be under construction; and
    • Anticipate a processing start date within two years of Association membership approval.
  • Annual Investment: The annual investment for Provisional Members is an annual fixed fee.
